The Secret To Sleeping Soundly: Finding The Right Prescribed Mattress

By

At the end of a long day accomplishing important tasks at work, running errands, working out, or spending time with family and friends, most people tend to simply throw themselves into bed and doze off without giving much thought to their sleeping arrangements. The goal, after all, is simply to get enough shuteye to be able to get up and function properly all over again the next day, so getting a few hours of sleep is all they need to think about.
Upon being roused from sleep by the alarm clock and getting up to stretch a bit, however, people may feel certain pains and nagging aches in their body that could last throughout the day. They can attribute it to settling into an awkward sleeping position for most of the night, but in some cases, the reason for the pains could be more than just assuming an uncomfortable position in bed. It would be worth taking a closer look at the very beddings you use every night to determine whether they have a direct effect on your body's condition-and it may be a good idea to consider purchasing a prescribed mattress to use starting today.
Beds, mattresses, and beddings produced by different manufacturers sport different features-there is no single design available for anyone wishing to purchase a comfortable and durable bed. However, people also have different body types and physical health conditions, and matching the wrong kind of bed to the wrong person can result in poor sleep quality and a range of body pains, specifically neck and back pains. Rather than choosing a bed based on nothing more than its size and style, you can select the specific prescribed bedding and mattress that can ensure restful nights and relieved body pains.
A number of orthopaedic surgeons believe that mattresses play a significant part in the management of low-back pain caused by inadequate support of the lumbar spine during sleep. Spending around six to eight hours sleeping on a generic bed can cause you to experience aches or to fail to fully slip into restful sleep for the entire period. Without adequate amounts of sleep and rest for a longer period of time, you will be prone to becoming irritable, restless, or unable to concentrate on your tasks throughout the day. Sleeping less than five hours a day also puts you at risk for developing heart diseases or even suffering a stroke.
Once you've decided to purchase a special prescribed mattress, the brand's specialists will help you go through clinical and diagnostic assessments until the right product can be found for your specific needs. Your current health status regarding your medical and orthopaedic history and musculoskeletal condition will be examined; likewise, the alignment of your spine and the pressure between your body and an orthopaedic mattress will be studied using a spinal alignment laser sensor. The results of these examinations will then be carefully examined to make sure that the right mattress to cater to your body's needs will be prescribed.
With the right mattress, you can also become free from nagging pack pains and wake up with renewed energy and enthusiasm every day. Sleeping should be comfortable so finding the perfect bed is necessary. Click here to find out how.

Tips to Prevent Aggravating or Triggering Sciatica During The Holidays

By

Expert Author Adam Arnette
The holiday season is filled with parties, people and presents - At least for many of you who have been preparing for Christmas, since... well maybe even before... Thanksgiving!
For some, the holidays may be less joyous, as many injuries occur during this time as well. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that 5,800 back injuries out of more than 50,000 annually, occur during the holidays. Putting up Christmas lights is more dangerous than you'd think! So before rushing into your holiday preparations, take a look at these tips to help you avoid aggravating a pre-existing conditions such as sciatica, or to avoid developing a new injury that may send you off to spine surgery this coming year:
Christmas Tree - Don't even consider picking one up by yourself to strap to the top of your car. Get help from a family member or friend and bribe them with cookies and milk when the job is done. Use your legs and keep your core tight when lifting, and avoid lifting overhead and twisting while reaching. Preventing a sciatica ridden holiday may be worth generously tipping "Santa's Helpers" to deliver and set up the tree in your home.
Don't decorate alone! Every year, hospital emergency rooms treat about 12,500 people for injuries, such as falls, cuts and shocks, related to holiday lights, decorations and Christmas trees, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Climbing onto shaky stepladders and reaching while twisting is a sure-fire way to injure your back. If you are alone, decorate at eye-level and avoid dicey maneuvers. If you have an eager team of friends, children and family... make an event of it and whip up some tasty treats while everyone pitches in. Also avoid carrying large or heavy boxes down from the attic. Divide your loads into smaller bags or boxes, and distribute the weight evenly in both hands to protect your spine from strain.
The Big Day - you may be stressed about getting your last-minute cooking completed and home cleaned up, so keep in mind that this is the time when many people overdo it, get injured and wind up needing laser spine surgery. Standing on your feet for hours and cooking is quite stressful on your back, so remind yourself to stand correctly, take breaks to stretch and move about.
Despite the stress to make everything just right, remember what this season is really about: Joy! So avoid triggering your sciatica, or worse, risking a new injury to your back that could send you for laser spine surgery. Relax and enjoy

Chiropractic for Children

By

Expert Author John S Kyneur
Let me ask you a question: when was the first time you remember having back pain?
It's unlikely to be earlier than 10 years old. Though that being said, kids are the ones who are running around all day, crashing into things and having big spills. So why is it only later in life that we seem to have the pains?
Well children are remarkably resilient. Their bodies are still growing, and they're really flexible, meaning that when they have an impact or injury, their body readjusts quickly, allowing them to carry on without much worry.
However, some of the strains of childhood can be pretty intense. Take birth for instance. There's an awful lot of pressure on the child, particularly on their head and neck, even in an uncomplicated birthing, and it is possible that from this come some of the first misalignments of the neck and spine.
Corrected, these problems would quickly resolve, because the baby heals so fast. But if left as they are, it is more likely that the body will tend to grow into these new patterns, and compensate for them, rather than correct them back to normal.
As the children grow into adults, their bodies become less resilient, less flexible, and these bad patterns become chronic conditions that can throw out the whole body. Because when you misalign just one section of the spine, it then causes other areas to change and shift to try and alleviate it, which then causes even more areas to be affected, and so on.
This may be one of the reasons children suffer from so-called "growing pains." It's not that the body is growing too quickly - it's that it's growing into an incorrect pattern!
There are also many conditions that can result from a misaligned spine. Some of these include colds, runny noses, bad hearing, forgetfulness and even learning difficulties!
So what can be done about this?
Well, the best solution would be to take your child to see a chiropractor, who can help to naturally adjust their spine into its correct position.
The best form of chiropractic to look for is practitioners of Sacro-Occipital Technique, or SOT. This is the most gentle form of chiropractic, using virtually no force. But whilst it's very light on force, it is also extremely effective.
Getting your child adjusted makes sense. And it paves the way for a healthy pain-free adulthood.
